With the warm temps we have been having it is hard to believe that it is still spring but it is.  One of the big to do items in the spring is spring cleaning.  I don’t know who invented spring cleaning, but I love it.  Not to say that I gut my house and clean it from top to bottom, scrubbing every inch of flooring and hanging the carpets out on the clothesline like the good old days.  However, I still enjoy the idea of tackling several smaller tasks to make my house feel a little fresher, airier and ready to march into the warm days of spring.  My idea of spring cleaning, of course, is centered on sprucing up my house while lowering my energy bills.  So I decided to share with you my top ten list of things to do to get your house ready for spring.   These are a few of my favorite things…

Your HVAC system has been working overtime for at least the past three months. In fact there were a couple of extremely cold days this past winter that your poor system worked around the clock without even so much as a coffee break! It was pretty cold for quite a stretch there. Because of all the run time you system has seen this winter, it needs a day at the spa. In case you didn’t know, spa time for your HVAC unit means calling your friendly neighborhood HVAC repairman and having him bring out his deluxe spa package. Routine maintenance on your system keeps all of its parts working at their peak performance, can make your system last longer, and may avoid headaches down the road. And right after you call and make that appointment, change all your filters on you system. You know that repairman is going to come inside and look at them. You can smile and say “I already did my spring cleaning.”
